Culture & Community, our way
2.
To sustain and strengthen our remarkable culture and community, we will:
A.
Support student health and well-being through a holistic, intentional approach.
Cultivate holistic wellness—mental, physical, and emotional—through a comprehensive, multi-layered program that measures and improves community well-being.
Provide targeted, individualized guidance and support for students who have acute needs in areas of well-being.
Connect curriculum and programs to well-being services and resources, weaving together our academic and whole-child programs in order to strengthen both.
B.
Encourage character development and agency through our curriculum, in and beyond our classrooms, helping each of our students to successfully navigate growth, change, and next steps.
Offer our learners expanded opportunities to give and receive feedback in a variety of formats, both in and out of the classroom.
Provide opportunities for students to participate in transformative community service on a regular basis, as an integrated part of our broader program.
Articulate BGA’s unique approach to whole-child development and convey the true value of our differentiating learning environment—where every child is known, understood, and supported.
Create metrics and benchmarks to measure our students' development of the mindsets, essential skills, and habits highlighted in our Portrait of a Graduate.
C.
Increase support and improve communications for faculty members, staff members, administrators, parents, and family members—thereby equipping the adults in our community to better care for the children in our charge.
Encourage parent feedback and partnerships and leverage current frameworks to enlist additional parental support for student growth and well-being.
Build support for educators and encourage confidence in new faculty and staff member hires through highlighted profiles, Q&A throughout the year, and early opportunities for families to meet new faculty and staff.
Support clear, affirmative connections between BGA educators and parents and codify communications processes where necessary.
Articulate our shared values around culture, community, learning, and mission in ways that unite the school community in both thought and deed.
